A new kind of leadership
By Victor Lorenzo.In the move of God in Argentina we aimed to go into a kind of leadership which would release the people more than taking the people. I remember the time that I was getting ready to preach and to teach in one of the congregations and God started to ask me questions! .
“Victor what do you have in front of you?”
“Well God it’s your people, it’s your church, your sons and daughters”
“And why are they here Victor?”
“They are here because they come to worship and because they have needs”
“And what do they need Victor?”
“Some of them need a miracle a of prosperity, some need a miracle of healing, some have a problem in their marriage whatever is the situation they have a need and they need your answer”
“And who is going to satisfy them?”
“Lord you are the provider; you are the one that takes care of our lives”
“And what are you doing on the platform?!!”
There was an element there that was me in the equation and I was trying to understand what I was doing there on the platform. I was there to be a channel of God to the people. but then God told me.
“You know you are so stupid, you have been with them all the week and you have not been able to satisfy them and you think that you will be able to do it from the platform on a Sunday!”
That put me in to a great crisis, because I was built up in terms of the pulpit. My father was behind the pulpit and I knew my inheritance was to be behind the pulpit. That in a way is the place of my satisfaction it is the place where I am stimulated. It is the place where I perform and I am recognised by my performance there and the better I that do the more recognised I will be. The more power I can release the more people there will be come and the more I can create an atmosphere of God the more that people will come. So the next Sunday there was another question from God!
“Victor- are you a good preacher?”
“Oh yes, I am a good preacher”
“Victor are you a good leader?”
“Yes Lord I’m a good leader”
“How are you in spiritual warfare?”
“I have been invited to speak all over the world on spiritual warfare”
Then God said to me-
“Victor you are not able to release my people, to equip them to encourage them and to stimulate them and keep them in connection with me every day, you are a failure. If you think that what you have built upon here is what I want for you, you are absolutely crazy!”
God brought me out of Argentina to rescue me from a situation which will not allow me to come to a new understanding and a new level of truth. I would be captive in my own congregation and I would be captive within those structures. God has something much greater than that.
