Why have prophecy?

By Martin Cooke

Without eyes and ears the Body of Christ cannot fully function 1 Corinthians v16/17 says “and if the ear shall say, because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where was the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where was the smelling?” Without prophetic people the church is unable to tell the plans of God. God always speaks his future plans for his people to the prophets. See Amos 3v7-“Surely the Lord will do nothing, but He revealeth his secret unto His servants the prophets.”

Without prophecy the church cannot wage effective spiritual warfare. Paul admonished Timothy on the need to use his prophecies that had been spoken over him. Timothy was required to wage a good warfare by his prophecies.1 Timothy1v18” This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thy by them mighest war a good warfare” The church has in large measure been dismissive of prophecy and the prophets. Now is the time for the ministries within the Body of Christ to operate as God intended.
